Our Story
RPC Hardware is owned and operated by Husband and Wife team Peter McPherson and Kathy Robertson.
RPC Hardware is a Melbourne-based, family-owned business built across two generations. The company began in 2009 when husband-and-wife team Peter McPherson and Kathy Robertson launched a small eBay store to help fund a trip around Australia. The store grew quickly, shifting from a side project into a full-time business and laying the foundation for long-term growth.
From a modest storage unit with no customer pickups, RPC Hardware expanded into a third‑party pack-and-send facility and then into its first dedicated warehouse in Dandenong South in 2012. Continued growth led to a larger warehouse in 2014 with improved customer access and transport capability.
By 2015, RPC Hardware launched its online store, expanding into farm tools, workshop equipment, and products designed specifically for small farms and hobby farms. As demand increased, the business transitioned to a direct‑import model in late 2016, improving product quality, pricing, and availability for rural and acreage customers.
In 2024, Peter and Kathy stepped back from day-to-day operations and handed leadership to their son, Terry Robertson. Terry now guides the business with a focus on modern systems, refined product ranges, and a strong customer experience, while maintaining the family values and practical approach that shaped RPC Hardware from the beginning.
